Program Notes

Falcon Attack, commissioned by the Northwest Middle School Band in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was written by David Holsinger in 2003.  The school’s mascot is the falcon, and the piece was inspired by the image of a soaring falcon defeating other school mascots.  Frequent meter changes contribute to the feeling of a bird flying quickly and freely through the sky.
