Life at VanderCook

Welcome to the cello studio at VanderCook. Your studies will include a weekly cello lesson that will incorporate cello technique, concert level repertoire, and sight-reading. In addition, you will play in the VanderCook Philharmonic Orchestra and in a chamber group where you will perform standard repertoire and new music. Through your lessons, classes, and the various performance opportunities offered at VanderCook, you will advance your playing, musicianship, and teaching skills. At VanderCook you will become a well-rounded music educator certified to teach orchestra, band, choir, and general music and knowledgeable about 18 instruments. VanderCook is a community of music enthusiasts where students, faculty, and staff know each other well and work in a supportive and positive atmosphere. I am delighted to help you meet your goals for your own playing and teaching career.

Are you thinking about becoming a music teacher? If so, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about teaching music. I'd also love to chat with you about what VanderCook has to offer and what you can expect if you choose to study cello here.
