KAYE CLEMENTS

Applied Flute

“Music moves the world. Every person, everywhere, associates music with the most significant events in their lives and with the most intense feelings and memories. To be able to perform music and to share music through teaching are worth being passionate about – and I am.”

Life at VanderCook

Flute students at VanderCook are part of a unique program that stresses both musical performance and professional preparation for teaching. This means that you will continue to develop your flute technique and repertoire, polish your skills as a performer, and learn to be an effective teacher. In addition to weekly private lessons, you will participate in large and small ensembles (including the Flute Ensemble) and will appear in public performances throughout the academic year. The flute studio is an active, enthusiastic, and supportive group. New members to the section and to the Flute Ensemble are welcomed. You will become part of a circle of friends and future colleagues in a small school with lots of individual attention and with access to both the benefits of a large campus and all the cultural opportunities of Chicago. VanderCook is a place where you can stretch your wings and thrive as a flutist.

Are you thinking about becoming a music teacher? If so, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about teaching music. I'd also love to chat with you about what VanderCook has to offer and what you can expect if you choose to study flute here.
